Investments

While many founders found it more challenging to get funding, 2020 is on track to be a record year, with potential to surpass $41B invested, driven by more $100M+ deals. Purpose continues to be a differentiator for European tech, with climate action a focus of the $6B invested into purpose-driven companies this year.

Record year

2020 is on track to set a new record of $41B invested into European tech. With $5B of capital invested, France is the only one of Europe's three largest markets to grow in 2020.

Mind the gap

On a cumulative basis, capital invested into UK tech companies is just short of $50B since 2016, this is more than 2x the capital invested in Germany ($23B) and France ($19B).

The Climate Crisis

Over $6B invested in purpose-driven European tech companies this year and investment in climate-focused start-ups has soared - over $11B in the last 5 years.
